Spring is here and the Beekeeping Season begins

The bees are active, daily orientation flights happening, loads of pollen coming in, and the first nectar being collected. Its spring!

Over the last few weeks weve been getting ready for the season ahead. 20 new BS Honey poly nuc boxes painted and ready for use when we start our 2021 queen rearing.

Weve just received a delivery of an additional 10 Maisemore Poly Hives and 20 Supers, which we will be painting over Easter weekend.

Weve made to most of the last couple of warm days, getting into the colonies for their first inspections of the year. From now until the end of august they will be inspected each week.

Fingers crossed we will be receiving some fencing materials delivered from Jacksons Fencing which will be used on out new out apiary sites (more about that in a later post).

Our Queen rearing year will start at Easter, when we will be sharing our approach, both successes and failures.
